My Good Buddy John David

So I've been getting a lot of comments about my blog about people that you want to meet, like my family and good friends. My family is coming in a little while, but I want to introduce you to a very good friend of mine, John David Johnson II. John David taught me Leadership and Sports my second year at Kennesaw. He was very timid by me, but most people that meet me for the first time are very timid and don't know what to say. When I started cracking jokes, he said yea, this kid is going to be alright. So I ended up with a B in the class, but if felt like an A. I really busted my butt in that class. Every since then, JD and I have developed this very unique relationship. In fact, this is going to sound weird, but I look at JD as a big brother or a second father figure in my life. JD has touched me in a way that I will be forever grateful. He has taught me the love and passion for the outdoors in a way that I never thought that I could view the outdoors. I may be very limited in what I can do, but he shows me that the wilderness has no boundaries. His family is one of the nicest families that I have ever met, from his wife to his son, who I freaking adore, to even his mom, dad, and nephews. They are stand up people and we need more people like John David in this world. Besides him always laughing at me, for God knows why, to him laughing at my staff for carrying a purse on a canoe (she's typing this.... and the purse did not come all the way onto the canoe), I can honestly say that JD is the man, and I look up to him. So, hugs and hand pounds bro.

Canoeing - KPeasey style!

On Friday I will be going canoeing for the first time ever. I have been white water rafting, but I've never been in a canoe before. On Sunday there was a trial run that went pretty well, but I did get really hot (and burnt!). Besides that it was a lot of fun and laid back - literally and figuratively. I hope that somebody will capture some photographs from this event to share with everyone. It should be a lot of fun! I'm really looking forward to Friday!

Ipod

For everybody that knows me, you know that my cell phone is on my wheelchair so that I can access it while I'm moving around. The other day, my buddy, Sam, who also happens to work for me, decided to go to the Home Depot to add on to my cell phone mount. I am please to announce that I now have a cell phone and an Ipod mount combination! It's great and I love it. I am getting ready for a canoe trip next Friday the 21st with John David, and Kirsten and I are going to practice on Sunday. It should be interesting. I hope everybody has a great night! More to come soon.

Fighter

The Hawks' season came to an end after 4 blow out losses to the Orlando Magic. I don't mind that the Hawks lost because Orlando was the better team, but I'm most disappointed that the Hawks showed no effort in the losses. Again, I don't care that they lost - but the guys need to show that they care about the game, they are professional athletes! Show some fight!

I attended Sam's graduation today. The commencement speaker was Arnold Schwarzenegger! Whether you agree or disagree with his political views, his message was clear - that anything is possible. The best part was that he did all his famous lines from his most popular movies - fantastic! Great stuff!

Good Stuff

Last week I spoke at the Galloway School for about 45 5th graders that were doing a project about inclusive schools. It was quite rewarding to look back on my past and tell them about some of the challenges that I went through. I always look forward to the questions kids have for me because they have some amazing and very thorough questions. We are working on the video of a speech I did in April that will be up on my website very soon. We are planning a summer vacation and a canoe trip - both should be a lot of fun. More to come later!

Hugs and hand pounds

Speech

I am looking forward to speaking tomorrow at the Galloway School. I'm working with a 5th grade class on how to make a school inclusive/accessible. I'm really prepared and can't wait to hear some of the questions they have for me. I will keep you posted on the outcome!

Best of luck to the Hawks and Braves, as they both have big games coming up!

Big Ups!!!
